Trail Buddies

Like scuba diving, sky diving and other sports, using the buddy system is a good habit to implement with equine activities too.  Not only is it more safe and fun to ride with a friend, but it makes chances of getting some pictures to post, that much better.

I would like to introduce my constant riding buddy, Jill.

She is a special friend and great trail photographer.  I am very thankful for her. Jill’s humor, wit and friendship have made my horse hobby a great and happy experience.

Jill and I tred to log around 30 miles a week of riding.  She had two horses, Lady and “Cat”. Lady is a Peruvian Paso and “Cat” was a breeding stock Paint.  At the time of this post, we had been riding together for roughly 5 years.

One of our goals was to ride in an endurance race within the year.  Life didn’t allow for that deadline, so it’s been extended.  Once in a great while, we are lucky enough to have someone take a picture of us together.

This photo is of Jill on “Cat” with me on Theeo.  It was a glorious evening, 11 miles in 2.5 hours.  Our first, quick ride.

Monday, August 17th proved to be another great day with my riding friends and Jill!  The day was beautiful, warm with a good breeze that kept us cool and kept the bugs off.  We rode 12 miles, meeting up with friends half way.  Fall was definitely in the air, so we are taking advantage of every opportunity that we can before the snow flies!
